Designer Plants Five Key Technologies
Every specimen in this range carries RealTex leaf-by-leaf colour and texture variation. Outdoor-rated trees add UVTex inhibitors bonded within the leaf, and fire-tested options are available where a commercial brief requires them.
Choosing an Artificial Tree for Your Space
A tree changes a room in a way smaller plants cannot. It draws the eye upward, fills the awkward corner beside a staircase, and softens the hard line where a wall meets a ceiling. This range covers floor specimens from roughly one metre to custom heights above three metres, in ficus, olive, palm, bamboo and native forms. Each arrives shaped and ready to position, so the only decision left is height and pot.
Getting the height right
Measure the ceiling and subtract 40 to 50 centimetres. A tree that almost touches the ceiling reads as crowding rather than presence. Against a standard 2.4 metre residential ceiling, specimens between 150 and 190 centimetres sit comfortably. Entryways, atriums and double-height voids carry two metres and above.
Indoor or outdoor
Every tree here is built with RealTex, the material technology that carries leaf-by-leaf colour and texture variation rather than a single flat green. Specimens rated for outdoor positions add UVTex, with UV inhibitors bonded within the leaf rather than sprayed onto the surface. Check the individual product for its outdoor rating before placing a specimen in direct sun.
Potting and finishing
Most trees arrive in a plain nursery pot sized to drop straight into a decorative planter. Choose a planter two to five centimetres wider than the supplied pot, then finish the surface with moss or stones. The pots and planters range is sized against these specimens.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Designer Plants artificial trees suitable for outdoor use in Australia?
Only the specimens rated for outdoor positions. Those carry UVTex, where UV inhibitors are bonded within the leaf material rather than applied to the surface, which is what allows colour to hold in direct Australian sun. Indoor-only trees in this range are built with RealTex alone. Check the outdoor rating on the individual product before positioning a tree in full sun.
Are fake trees and artificial trees the same thing?
Yes, shoppers use both terms for the same product. Designer Plants writes artificial throughout, partly because a floor specimen with RealTex leaf-by-leaf colour variation and a timber or cane trunk sits a long way from what most people picture when they hear fake trees. Whichever term you searched, this is the range. The main practical difference to watch for elsewhere is height: many products sold as fake trees are tabletop pieces rather than floor specimens.
How tall should an artificial tree be for a standard Australian ceiling?
Against a standard 2.4 metre residential ceiling, a specimen between 150 and 190 centimetres leaves enough clearance to read as deliberate rather than crowded. Allow 40 to 50 centimetres between the top of the foliage and the ceiling. Entryways, stairwells and double-height voids take two metres and above.
What is the difference between an artificial tree and an artificial potted plant?
Trees in this range are floor specimens from roughly one metre upward, built on a trunk or cane structure that carries the foliage at height. Artificial potted plants are tabletop and floor pieces without that trunk structure, suited to desks, sideboards and entry styling rather than filling vertical space.
Do artificial trees come with a pot?
Most arrive in a plain nursery pot sized to drop into a decorative planter. Choose a planter two to five centimetres wider than the supplied pot so it seats without forcing, then finish the surface with moss or decorative stones. The pots and planters range is sized against these specimens.
Are artificial trees safe around children and pets?
Yes. Specimens are manufactured to the SafeTex non-toxic materials standard and carry no pollen, sap or allergens, which is one reason they are specified for clinics, childcare fit-outs and homes with animals.
How are artificial trees cleaned?
Dust with a soft cloth or a light feather duster every few weeks. Outdoor-rated specimens are water resistant and can be rinsed with a hose. Avoid solvent-based cleaners, which can lift the surface finish on the leaf.
Can artificial trees be used in commercial fit-outs?
Yes, and repeat orders are supplied from the same production run so specimens match across sites. Where a brief carries a fire compliance requirement, the FireTex range provides fire-tested options. Confirm the requirement against the specific product, and call 1800 617 341 to discuss project quantities.

Commercial Grade. Made for Lasting Impact.
Designer Plants trees are specified by interior designers, hotel groups and commercial fit-out teams who need a floor specimen that holds its finish through years of foot traffic and artificial light.
Repeat orders match. Where a rollout spans multiple sites, specimens are supplied from the same production run, so a lobby in Perth reads the same as one in Brisbane.
Fire-tested options. Where a brief carries a compliance requirement, the FireTex range provides fire-tested specimens. Confirm the requirement against the individual product before specifying.
Custom heights. Trees above three metres are built to order for atriums and double-height voids.
