Before Our Collaboration
This client valued their outdoor space extensively.
They’d already invested significantly in their outdoor entertaining space, had installed a raised porcelain tile spa platform with a marble waterfall bar edge, a high-end outdoor shower, and a synthetic lawn courtyard designed around a luxury hot tub installation.
Every element of the build was considered: the material palette, the lighting, the bar seating. What the space still lacked, even after all of that, was a backdrop worth looking at.
The boundary wall running behind the spa platform was plain rendered masonry that sat directly in the sightline from every point in the courtyard. In a space designed for relaxation, that wall worked against the brief.

The client, while researching solutions for their outdoor space, found our collection of artificial green walls and determined that the panels match the quality of the build they'd already completed. They then reached out to discuss what a full-height green wall installation would look like behind the spa zone.
The problem
The client’s challenge was finding faux greenery that would hold up in a coastal Southern California environment year-round without adding ongoing maintenance to a space specifically designed to be effortless.
While our client originally thought of using real plants, they quickly discarded the idea because adding soil beds and irrigation access directly on the masonry would cause a mess and would not fit their low-maintenance requirements.
The outdoor environment meant direct sun exposure, salt air, and temperature variation throughout the year. All of these conditions degrade inferior UV products quickly, so our team had to walk the client through UV-resistant options and our UVTex technology.

During the Process
We worked with the client to assess the full wall run behind the spa platform. Our team worked with the homeowners throughout the installation by providing the measurements, confirming the masonry substrate, and establishing which portions of the wall would be in direct afternoon sun given the courtyard's westerly aspect.

The Jasmine Hedge Screen panel was specified for this project for 3 reasons:
-
Its foliage creates a softer, more organic surface, which is appropriate for a space built around relaxation
-
Its bright, uniform green reads cleanly against the pale porcelain tile and marble of the spa platform because it provides contrast.
-
Its UV engineering, RealTex materials with UV inhibitors integrated within the leaf, are designed for coastal and high-sun outdoor environments to prevent fading
We helped the client calculate their coverage at one panel per square metre of wall area, with panels trimmed at the top edge to follow the wall height precisely and at the corners where the wall met the rendered side returns.
The solution
Installation was direct-to-masonry: galvanised screws and wall plugs through the panel's grid backing, with UV-rated cable ties at all panel-to-panel joins.
The integrated clip-and-lug system along each panel edge locked adjacent panels together, and once secured, we adjusted the foliage by hand across every join to ensure the wall read as a single, continuous botanical surface.
The Jasmine wall runs the full width and height of the boundary behind the spa platform and anchors the courtyard exactly like the client wanted. The synthetic lawn in the foreground, the standing outdoor shower, and the stepped spa platform all read as part of a considered design.

At dusk, the courtyard's LED strip lighting activates beneath the spa platform steps and around the perimeter of the synthetic lawn. The covered hot tub, the marble bar edge, and the illuminated steps are all visible, while the faux green wall holds its presence in the lower-light condition without losing its depth.
After the Process
The courtyard is now a complete space. The Jasmine panels bring the privacy and botanical enclosure that the space needed, without adding a single maintenance obligation to a build already designed around effortlessness.

The panels will look identical in 3 years as they do on installation day, which is a meaningful consideration in a coastal California environment where UV degradation is rapid for any product that doesn't carry UV certification.
Next Steps
If you're working on a luxury outdoor build like a spa installation, a pool surround, a courtyard entertainment space, or any outdoor zone where the boundary wall needs to earn its place in the design, this project is the blueprint.
We can stock and ship the panels the same day or next day from our warehouse in Braeside, VIC. Order a sample to check the foliage and colour against your finishes, or speak to our team directly if your project has multiple zones or a complex wall configuration.
And in the meantime, follow our weekly inspiration on social media to get your creativity flowing for your future project.
FAQs
-
How do artificial green wall panels perform in coastal and high-sun conditions?
-
Our green wall panels use RealTex LDPE materials with UVTex UV inhibitors bonded within the leaf structure. Unlike surface-treated alternatives that degrade within 12–24 months in coastal and sun-exposed conditions, the UV protection in these panels doesn't diminish over time because it's part of the material itself.
-
Can green wall panels be installed directly onto rendered masonry?
-
Yes. Rendered masonry is one of the most straightforward installation surfaces. Attach panels using galvanised screws and wall plugs through the grid backing, with UV-rated cable ties at panel joins. No frame or mesh is required on a solid rendered substrate. Panels clip together using the integrated clip-and-lug system for a seamless finish.
-
How many panels would I need for a pool boundary wall?
-
Each panel is 1m × 1m and covers 1 square metre. Multiply your wall width by height in metres for the total panel count, then add 10% for trimming at edges and corners. Use our online panel calculator for a fast result, or contact our team for a quote on larger or complex layouts.
-
Is maintenance required after installation?
-
No routine maintenance is required. The panels need no watering, trimming, pruning, or replacement. An occasional light rinse with a hose or wipe-down with a damp cloth is sufficient to maintain their appearance in an outdoor environment. This is one of the primary reasons faux green wall panels are specified for outdoor and pool environments.
