Designer Plants Five Key Technologies

UVTex, RealTex and FireTex are foliage technologies and are not part of how any pot on this page is made, so they are not claimed here. What defines this range instead is geometric: six round diameters from 14cm to 71cm in recycled-material bodies, with the coarser cast textures reserved for the larger sizes where they read properly.

Round Pots Sized by Diameter, from 14cm to 71cm

This range is organised by one measurement, because with a round pot the diameter decides everything. It carries a full ladder of 14cm, 17cm, 25cm, 40cm, 47cm and 71cm, so a shelf pot, a floor pot and a foyer pot can be chosen in one finish family. Prices run from $18.95 to $189.95, with a four-piece terrazzo set above that. The circular form is the forgiving one: no corners to align with a wall, and it reads the same from every approach.

Matching diameter to the specimen

Allow the pot to be 40mm to 60mm wider than the nursery pot it receives. A 100mm nursery pot goes into a 14cm, a 200mm into a 25cm and a 300mm into a 40cm. The 71cm sizes are floor pieces for a substantial specimen or one of the artificial trees, not a scaled-up houseplant, which looks lost in them.

Surface finishes across the ladder

Engraved relief sits at 14cm and 17cm, imitation marble and glossy colour at 25cm, imitation stone at 40cm, and coarse cast texture at 47cm and 71cm. Terrazzo appears only in the concrete set of four. Because texture reads at a distance and fine pattern reads up close, the rough finishes belong on the larger diameters.

Grouping round pots so they work together

Odd numbers group better than even. Three pots stepping 25cm, 47cm and 71cm in one finish give a clear height gradient without any two competing. Keep them close enough to overlap visually from the main viewing position. For help matching a diameter to a specimen, call 1800 617 341, or compare the shallow alternatives in the pot bowls range.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much wider than the plant should a round pot be?

Roughly 40mm to 60mm of diameter, which is enough to lift the nursery pot in and out without scraping. On this ladder that means a 100mm nursery pot in a 14cm, a 200mm in a 25cm, a 300mm in a 40cm and a 350mm to 400mm in a 47cm. Going much wider than that leaves a visible gap around the rim that has to be hidden with moss or pebbles.

Will a round designer pot work with a fake plant bought elsewhere?

Usually yes, as long as the base of the fake plant is measured rather than guessed. Most artificial specimens come either in a plain black nursery pot or on a moulded plug, and both drop into these pots without modification. The one thing to watch is stability: a light fake tree in a 71cm textured round has almost no weight in the base, so add gravel or a sandbag inside the vessel to stop it tipping.

Which round pot sizes suit a floor position?

The 40cm imitation stone pots for a medium specimen, the 47cm textured and dark grey rounds for a substantial one, and the 71cm textured rounds where the position is a corner, a foyer or a double-height space. Below 40cm a round pot on the floor tends to read as something that has been put down temporarily rather than placed.

How do round pots compare with the imitation stone range?

This page is sorted by shape, so it mixes engraved, glossy, marble, stone and textured finishes as long as the pot is round. The imitation stone pots are sorted by finish instead, which is why that range includes squared and rectangular forms such as the 50cm rectangle planter that never appear here. Use this page when the diameter is the deciding factor and that one when the stone look is.

Are round pots better in odd-numbered groups?

Groups of three read as one composition while groups of two read as a pair that has to match perfectly. A useful arrangement on this ladder is 25cm, 47cm and 71cm in a single finish, which gives a clear step in height. Keep the pots close enough to overlap visually from where the room is entered.

What is the terrazzo set in this range?

The modern concrete terrazzo planters are supplied as a bulk set of four rather than individually, and at $1,100 they sit well above everything else on this page. Terrazzo appears nowhere else in the round range, so this is the only way to get that speckled aggregate surface. It suits a courtyard or an entry where four matching vessels line a run.

Can the 71cm round planters be moved once they are placed?

Yes, with the specimen lifted out first. These are recycled-material bodies rather than cast concrete, so a 71cm textured round empty is a one-person carry, which is not true of a stone pot at the same diameter. Slide rather than drag on timber floors, since the cast texture on the base is coarse.

Do these round pots come with drainage holes?

It varies by product, so check the individual listing rather than assuming. Most of this range is used as a cover pot, with the specimen left in its nursery pot and the decorative round simply concealing it, which avoids the question entirely. If a live plant is being potted directly into a 40cm or 47cm, confirm drainage first and add a saucer underneath for an indoor position.

Commercial Grade. Made for Lasting Impact.

Round pots get specified in volume because a circle needs no setting out. There is no orientation to get right on delivery and no corner to align with a wall, which saves time when fifty vessels land on a site at once.

One finish across six diameters. A scheme can step from a 17cm counter pot to a 71cm floor planter without changing finish family, which keeps a lobby, a lift landing and a tenancy reading as one project.

Sets already priced as sets. The modern concrete terrazzo planters are supplied as a bulk set of four, and the 47cm textured rounds are also available grouped, which removes the piece-by-piece arithmetic from a schedule.

Replacement without a rematch. Because these are ongoing round lines rather than seasonal shapes, a damaged 47cm can generally be replaced individually instead of forcing a whole group to be redone.

Set quantities and finish splits are confirmed at the time of enquiry.
