Designer Plants Five Key Technologies
Small plants and shrubs in this range are supplied already potted, with RealTex colour variation carried through the leaf rather than printed on it. Much of the 20 centimetre potted selection is UV resistant with UVTex inhibitors inside the leaf, and selected products are fire-tested for compliance-led briefs.
Choosing Artificial Shrubs and Small Plants
Small artificial plants do the work that large specimens cannot: they fill shelves, desks, vanities and the awkward space beside a kettle. This range starts at 20 centimetre potted plants from around $14.95, in buxus, jasmine, peperomia, white jade and rosemary, and runs up through 38 centimetre ornamental grasses, 50 centimetre monstera and peace lily, and a 55 centimetre taro. At the larger end sit a 90 centimetre cordyline, a 100 centimetre snake plant and clipped topiary shrubs at 50 and 80 centimetres. Most of the small potted range is UV resistant.
Small plants and where they fit
The 20 centimetre potted plants are the ones to buy in threes. They sit on a bathroom vanity, a bookshelf, a desk or a kitchen windowsill, and they are the only size that works on a narrow ledge. Step up to 35 to 55 centimetres for a console or a sideboard, where the 50 centimetre monstera or birds nest fern gives enough mass to register.
Shrubs for floor and garden bed positions
Shrub forms cover the gap between a small plant and a full tree. A 90 centimetre cordyline or a 100 centimetre snake plant fills the base of a wall or the space beside a wardrobe. The 50 and 80 centimetre topiary shrubs and the UV resistant grasses suit garden beds and paths where a living shrub struggles with shade.
Grouping and upkeep
Vary height, leaf shape and pot finish within a group of three, since three identical 20 centimetre plants in a row read as a display rather than as planting. Dust every few weeks, wiping the broad leaves on the monstera and taro forms where it settles most visibly.

Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as a small artificial plant in this range?
The 20 centimetre potted plants are the core of it, supplied in a pot from around $14.95, in buxus, flowering boxwood, jasmine, peperomia, white jade, yellow lily and rosemary. Above those sit 35 to 55 centimetre pieces such as the potted fern, the lavender at 40 centimetres and the monstera at 50 centimetres. Anything past about 90 centimetres is better thought of as a shrub than a small plant.
Are fake plants and artificial shrubs the same thing?
Yes, and fake plants is simply the more common phrasing when people mean small potted pieces for a shelf or a desk. Artificial shrub tends to be used for the larger forms in this range, such as the 80 centimetre topiary shrub or the 90 centimetre cordyline. Both terms describe the same products and the same build, so search whichever comes naturally.
Do the small artificial plants come with pots?
Yes. The 20 centimetre range is supplied already potted, which is why it works straight out of the box on a vanity or a desk. Larger shrub forms such as the 50 centimetre agave are listed without a pot where they are intended to be dropped into your own planter or bedded into an existing arrangement, so check the individual product before ordering.
Are there artificial herbs in pots in this range?
Yes. Potted rosemary is available at 20 centimetres in two finishes, including a brighter green variant, both UV resistant. They suit a kitchen windowsill or a benchtop where a living herb would need light the position cannot give it, and they are also used in cafe settings on table tops. Since there is no soil, the pot can sit directly on a timber surface.
What sizes does the artificial snake plant come in?
Two. The sansevieria, sold as mother in law tongue or yellow tongue, comes at 60 centimetres for a shelf, sideboard or bathroom corner, and at 100 centimetres for a floor position beside a wardrobe or a desk. Both are UV resistant, which is useful because the upright blade form works well on a balcony where a broad-leaf plant catches too much wind.
What is the difference between small artificial plants and artificial potted plants?
Size and role. Everything here is under about 115 centimetres and designed to sit on a surface or fill a low gap. The artificial potted plants range starts where this one leaves off, with floor specimens from 100 to 180 centimetres such as bamboo, areca palm and bird of paradise. A typical room uses one or two from that range and several from this one.
Can artificial shrubs and small plants be used outdoors?
The UV resistant products can. That covers most of the 20 centimetre potted selection, the 38 centimetre ornamental grasses in green and burgundy, the yucca grass and the 50 and 80 centimetre topiary shrubs. Those carry UVTex within the leaf. Indoor-only pieces such as the potted succulent bowl and the birds nest fern should stay under cover.
How are artificial shrubs and small plants cleaned?
A soft cloth every few weeks handles the broad-leaf forms like the monstera, taro and leopard lily, where dust is most visible against a dark green. Fine forms such as the ornamental grasses are better shaken out or blown clear with a cool hairdryer. Outdoor-rated pieces can be rinsed, and old plants can be returned through the Designer Plants artificial greenery recycling programme.

Commercial Grade. Made for Lasting Impact.
Small plants are the volume item in a commercial greenery scheme, ordered by the dozen for desks, meeting rooms, reception counters, guest rooms and bathroom vanities where a floor specimen would be in the way.
Repeatable at volume. The 20 centimetre potted range is supplied in matched batches so a hundred desks or fifty guest rooms carry an identical plant rather than an assortment.
Fire-tested options. Selected products, including the potted rosemary herb, are fire-tested where a fit-out brief carries a compliance requirement. Match that requirement to the specific product before it goes onto a schedule.
Suited to hot-desking and shared spaces. Nothing to water means no ownership question when a desk changes hands, and no dead plant left behind when someone goes on leave.
Batch quantities and pot options are worked out on enquiry.
