By the face of the greenery, given as length by height. A 100cm long x 50cm high module screens a metre of run to half a metre of height, and the trough sits below that. The tallest modules in this range are 100cm long x 200cm high, and the widest single unit is 150cm x 150cm.
Are fake portable hedges suitable for a rental balcony?
This is the main reason the range exists. A fake hedge in a trough needs no screws, brackets or adhesive, so a lease that forbids alterations is no obstacle and the hedge moves out with the tenant. Fake hedge and artificial hedge describe the same product, and what matters on a balcony is that the trough is free-standing and the foliage is UV resistant.
How many portable hedge modules fit along a 4 metre balcony?
Four, if the 1 metre long modules are used, since they butt together into a continuous line. Where the run is not a whole number of metres, finishing with a 75cm x 75cm square unit closes the gap. Working at 100cm high gives waist to chest screening on a standard balcony rail.

No watering, feeding or clipping, and no growth to keep in check, so the screening height set on day one stays. A hose rinse two or three times a year clears dust from the face. Because the units are free-standing, they can also be moved out of the way for cleaning behind them, which a fixed panel cannot.
