Designer Plants Five Key Technologies
Small plants in this range are supplied planted in their own pot at the height quoted in the product title, and the 20cm UV-resistant range carries UVTex inhibitors bonded within the leaf for covered outdoor positions.
Choosing Small Artificial Plants by Height and Surface
Small artificial plants are bought for a specific spot far more often than they are bought on impulse, and the spot usually sets the height before anything else does. This range of 81 products runs from 19cm succulent bowls up to 95cm floor-adjacent pieces, with most of it sitting between 20cm and 50cm. Because the difference between a 20cm plant and a 50cm plant on the same shelf is considerable, the sections below sort the range by band. Work out the height first and the species choice becomes much simpler.
20cm to 38cm for shelves and windowsills
This is the densest part of the range. The 20cm potted jasmine, buxus, peperomia, jade and fern are the standard shelf and windowsill size, the 19cm and 20.5cm succulent bowls suit a coffee table, and the 30cm mondo grass and 38cm ornamental grasses in green and burgundy add height without spreading. Several are UV resistant, so they also suit a covered outdoor sill.
40cm to 60cm for benchtops and side tables
The middle band carries the pieces that need to be seen from across a room. The 40cm lavender, the 46cm butterfly orchid, the 50cm peace lily and monstera, the 55cm taro and the 60cm Zanzibar all sit here. Blooming forms in this band are grouped in flowering plants if colour is the point rather than foliage.
65cm to 95cm before you move up a size
Above 65cm a plant stops being a surface object and starts working on a low stand, a hearth or beside a chair. The 65cm orchid, the 75cm yucca grass, the 90cm cordyline and bamboo trunk and the 95cm peace lily cover this. Beyond that the range continues in potted plants and artificial trees.

Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as a small artificial plant?
In this range, anything from 19cm up to about 95cm overall height including the pot. The bulk of it sits between 20cm and 50cm, which is the band that works on a shelf, a windowsill or a benchtop. Above 95cm a plant needs floor space rather than a surface, so those pieces are grouped elsewhere.
Which small artificial plants suit a bathroom or a windowsill?
The 20cm potted range is the natural fit because the pot footprint is narrow enough for a standard sill. The dark green fern, the persa boston fern and the peperomia read well in a bathroom where humidity would trouble a living plant, and because several in that size are UV resistant they also hold colour on a sill that catches direct afternoon sun.
Are fake small plants and artificial small plants the same thing?
Yes. Fake small plants, artificial small plants and mini artificial plants all point at the same products. At this scale the term matters less than the measurement, because a 20cm plant and a 40cm plant are described identically in search but behave very differently on a 25cm-deep shelf. Check the height in the product title rather than relying on the photograph.
How do you style small artificial plants so a group does not look sparse?
Cluster in odd numbers and vary the height within the group. Three pieces at 20cm, 38cm and 50cm read as a considered arrangement, while three identical 20cm pots read as a shop display. Mixing leaf forms helps as well, so pairing a fine-textured grass with a broad-leaf peace lily gives contrast that a single species cannot.
Can small artificial plants be used outside?
The UV-resistant ones can. The 20cm potted jasmine, boxwood, buxus and mimosa fern and the 30cm mondo grass carry UVTex inhibitors bonded within the leaf and suit a balcony rail, a covered patio or an outdoor table. Non-UV pieces such as the indoor orchids will fade if left in direct sun.
How does this range compare with large artificial plants?
This page covers surface-scale planting up to about 95cm, which is what you want for shelves, sills and benchtops. Large artificial plants starts at 110cm and runs to 250cm, which is floor-standing territory for filling a corner or screening a window. Most rooms end up using both, with one floor plant anchoring the space and smaller pieces layered around it.
Do small artificial plants come with a pot?
Yes, every piece in this range is supplied planted, and the quoted height includes the pot. The supplied pots are plain and functional rather than decorative, so most are dropped into a nicer vessel once home. Planters covers the smaller diameters that suit the 20cm and 38cm range.
How do you clean small artificial plants?
A damp cloth or a soft brush every few weeks. At this scale dust collects in the leaf axil where the leaf meets the stem rather than on the leaf face, so a brush reaches it better than a wipe. The fine-leaf pieces such as the mondo grass and the mimosa fern are quickest to rinse under a tap and shake dry.

Commercial Grade. Made for Lasting Impact.
Small planting is specified in quantity more often than in isolation, whether that is one piece per guest room, one per desk or a repeated run along a shelf line.
Repeatable at scale. The 20cm potted range is the most commonly specified size for volume orders because the footprint is consistent and the pieces stack efficiently for transport to multiple sites.
No service requirement. Nothing in this band needs watering or rotation, which matters most where the plants sit in rooms that housekeeping enters briefly and cannot maintain planting.
Mixed specification from one schedule. Shelf-scale and mid-band pieces can be quoted together so a scheme reads consistently. Quantities are confirmed on enquiry, or by phone on 1800 617 341.
