Designer Plants Five Key Technologies

Heights in this range are quoted from the base of the pot to the top of the foliage and run from 110cm to 250cm; UV-certified products carry UVTex inhibitors bonded within the leaf, and RealTex variation runs through the foliage on every piece.

Choosing Large Artificial Plants for Ceiling Height and Floor Space

A large plant is a piece of furniture as much as it is decoration, and the two measurements that decide whether it works are the ceiling height above it and the floor space around it. This range of 37 products runs from 110cm up to 250cm, with the heaviest concentration at 180cm. Getting the height wrong in either direction is the common mistake: a 150cm tree in a room with a 3 metre ceiling looks stranded, and a 210cm palm under a 2.4 metre ceiling looks compressed. The bands below make the choice by room rather than by species.

110cm to 160cm for standard ceilings

Under a 2.4 metre ceiling this band leaves comfortable clearance above the canopy. The 110cm bird of paradise, the 150cm monstera albo and olive, and the 160cm areca palm, fishtail palm and ficus all sit here. This is also the safest band for a plant that has to sit on a rug or beside seating rather than in an open corner.

170cm to 190cm for open living areas

The core of the range. The 170cm fiddle leaf fig, the 180cm ficus, olive, wisteria, rubber plant, camellia and bamboo, and the 190cm phoenix and hawaii palms are the pieces that fill a corner or soften a tall window. Compare against the wider selection in artificial trees if a trunk-forward form suits better.

2.1 to 2.5 metres for double-height spaces

Stairwells, voids and commercial lobbies need the top of the range: the 210cm areca palm and natural cane bamboo, the 2.1 metre cypress pine and the 250cm magnolia. At this scale the vessel has to be weighted, so choose from planters before the plant arrives rather than afterwards.

Frequently Asked Questions

How tall are the large artificial plants in this range?

From 110cm to 250cm, measured from the base of the pot to the top of the foliage. The largest group sits at 180cm, which suits a standard 2.4 metre ceiling with clearance above, and the tallest pieces are the 210cm areca palm and natural cane bamboo, the 2.1 metre cypress pine and the 250cm magnolia.

What ceiling height suits a 180cm artificial tree?

A standard 2.4 metre ceiling works comfortably, leaving roughly 60cm of clear space above the canopy so the plant does not look wedged in. Under a lower ceiling the 150cm and 160cm options read better. In a double-height room or a stairwell void, 180cm looks undersized and the 210cm to 250cm pieces are the right call.

Are fake large plants and artificial large plants the same thing?

Yes, the terms are interchangeable and both describe the same products. Where the wording does matter is in the height quoted: some sellers measure fake trees by foliage only and exclude the pot. Every height on this page includes the supplied pot, so a 190cm palm stands 190cm from the floor as delivered.

Do large artificial plants come with a pot?

Most do, and the product title states it. Pieces described as potted arrive planted in a supplied pot, and a few such as the monstera adansonii and the magnolia come with a decorative pot included. The supplied pot is generally plain and intended to be dropped into a heavier vessel, which also improves stability on a 190cm or taller plant.

Can large artificial plants be used outdoors?

The UV-certified ones can. The 180cm phoenix palm, the 210cm natural cane bamboo, the cypress pines and the 150cm olive are marked UV resistant and carry UVTex inhibitors bonded within the leaf. On a terrace or balcony the bigger issue is wind rather than sun, so a tall plant needs a weighted planter or ballast in the base to stay upright.

How do large artificial plants compare with the artificial trees range?

This page is sorted by height and includes broad-leaf floor plants such as the 110cm bird of paradise and the 150cm monstera albo alongside trees. Artificial trees is the narrower set with a visible trunk and a lifted canopy, which is what you want when the silhouette matters more than the leaf mass. A palm or a bamboo appears in both because it qualifies on either measure.

How are large artificial plants delivered?

Australia-wide delivery with door-to-door tracking. Tall plants travel with the foliage compressed against the trunk to protect it, so a 190cm palm will look narrow when it comes out of the carton. Working the branches outward and downward by hand for a few minutes restores the natural spread, and the leaves hold the new position.

Which large plant suits a narrow corner rather than a wide space?

Upright forms with a tight footprint. The natural cane bamboo at 180cm and 210cm and the cypress pine at 1.8 and 2.1 metres grow vertically rather than spreading, so they suit a narrow gap beside a doorway or between windows. For a wide corner that needs filling, the 180cm olive, the 180cm ficus and the multi-trunk fan palm carry a much broader canopy.

Commercial Grade. Made for Lasting Impact.

Large-format planting is usually the single most visible element in a lobby, a display suite or a hospitality fitout, and it is specified against ceiling height and sightlines rather than species preference.

Scale for double-height spaces. The 210cm and 250cm pieces suit voids, stairwells and lobbies where a standard 180cm plant disappears against the volume of the room.

Matched specimens for pairs and runs. Entrances and colonnades usually need plants that mirror each other, and repeat quantities are supplied from matched stock where availability allows.

Delivered ready to position. Australia-wide delivery with door-to-door tracking, with foliage shaped on site once unpacked. Availability on tall specimens can be checked by phone on 1800 617 341.

Trunk and canopy dimensions are listed per product.
