You've been scrolling product pages, saving reference images, and second-guessing yourself for weeks.
The artificial plant looks perfect on screen, but will it actually work in your space?
Will the colour read the same under your lighting?
Is it the right scale?
These are questions that a product photo simply cannot answer (unfortunately).
That's exactly why Australia's largest artificial plant showroom exists, and why so many of our clients, from interior designers and commercial managers to retail brands and hospitality groups, make the trip to Kevlar Close, Braeside before committing.
But what can you expect when you walk through the door? Why is it a fundamentally different experience from buying online, especially for a larger commercial project?
Let’s talk about it.
The Limits of Buying Artificial Plants Online
Online shopping has its place, and it’s an important one for decor and interior design. It's great for replenishing known products, adding to an existing install, or picking up something small where the stakes are low.
But for commercial projects, the risks of buying blind are significant.
Texture, density, and colour all read differently on a screen than they do in person. A luxury green wall panel that looks lush in photography might land flat when you see it in the context of your space. Besides that, scale is almost impossible to judge from dimensions alone, even though you have all the information on the page.
And when you're ordering 20, 50, or 100 panels for a large commercial project, getting it wrong is a costly mistake.
Research consistently shows that the physical retail environment drives significantly higher purchase confidence, especially for considered, high-value purchases. Studies on customer experience in design-led retail find that in-person consultation increases customer satisfaction and reduces return rates compared to digital-only purchasing journeys.
For a business investing in its brand environment, this is the confidence you need.
What the Braeside Showroom Offers You
If you’re not in Melbourne or want a preview of our showroom before you visit?
You can take a tour through our virtual showroom to get a feel for the space and the range before you arrive.
When you visit in person, you’ll see a fully curated, hands-on environment where you can see the products at scale, in context, and in natural and artificial light. You'll see green walls and vertical gardens, artificial trees, and our range of planters and pots to help you visualise how they work together.
You can touch everything, compare panels side by side, and hold samples up to photos of the space you're working on.
This is what moves things along for all our commercial clients. Since our showroom isn’t a warehouse, you can come in to see what your vision would look like so that you can make better decisions.
Meet Connie and Will: Your plant stylists
At the heart of the Designer Plants showroom are Connie and Will, our expert plant stylists.
They manage the showroom and the warehouse, along with being there to help you understand how your faux greenery will interact with space, light, architecture, and brand identity.
Connie and Will's approach is simple: understand your project deeply, then advise honestly.
Here's what the experience typically looks like with them:
- You bring the brief. They bring the expertise.
Before your visit, or at the start of your consultation, Connie and Will will want to understand the scope of your project. For commercial clients, this means questions like:
- What's the overall feel you're going for?
- What's the foot traffic like?
- Is this an indoor, outdoor, or mixed environment?
- Are there fire compliance requirements?
- What's the timeline and budget?
The more information you bring, the more tailored their advice. We have a handy to-do list to help you prepare:

For larger commercial projects, bring your floor plans or fit-out drawings if you have them.
- They stage it in the showroom.
Once they understand your project, Will and Connie will show you a mini-staging of your shortlisted products in the showroom. They’ll arrange a few panels, trees, and planters the way they'd sit in your space.
They'll test combinations, adjust scale, and walk you through layering techniques that elevate the final result. This is when we usually see everything "click."
- They advise on the details that matter commercially.
For commercial clients, the conversation goes beyond aesthetics.
Will and Connie will walk you through practical commercial considerations: which products are UV-rated for outdoor or high-light environments, which panels carry FireTex fire certification for compliance in commercial spaces, and which options offer the best durability-to-investment ratio for high-traffic areas.
These are the kinds of expert insights that protect your investment, and that you won't get from a product description. Besides this, we can help you understand your ROI from your artificial plants, taking into account that you won’t be replacing or repurchasing them for many, many years.

Why This Matters for Commercial Projects
The challenge for commercial clients is that the stakes of a wrong decision are proportionally higher.
A residential buyer replacing one plant can course-correct easily. A business that has ordered 60 panels for a restaurant fit-out and finds that the product isn't rated for their outdoor terrace has a much bigger problem.
This is exactly the scenario the showroom consultation is designed to prevent. Our commercial gallery shows the breadth of what's possible, but seeing those results starts with a conversation in person.
Check out how we transformed BMW Melbourne's showroom with an artificial green wall - a real example of the kind of commercial project where in-person consultation made the difference between good and exceptional.
What to Bring to Make the Most of Your Visit
Whether you're coming in for a quick walk-through or a full commercial design consultation, the visit will be more productive if you arrive prepared.
Here's what our team recommends:
- Photos of the space. Even basic iPhone shots help Connie and Will understand light quality, scale, and the surrounding aesthetic. For larger projects, bring photos from multiple angles.
- Measurements. If you're looking at green walls, vertical gardens, or privacy screens, knowing your dimensions means the team can give you accurate quantity estimates on the spot.
- Your existing pots or planters, or photos of them. If you're looking to fill or complement existing vessels, bringing them in (or a photo) allows for a far more precise recommendation.
- Your inspiration references. Screenshots, magazine tears, competitor venues, Pinterest boards, all of it is useful. The more visual context you provide, the more targeted the advice.
- For commercial clients: your brief or floor plan. Even a rough sketch of the space with dimensions noted will accelerate the consultation considerably.
Finishing Thoughts
The showroom is open Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, and Saturday 9:30am–1:30pm.
Walk-ins are welcome, but for commercial clients or anyone planning a larger project, we recommend booking a design consultation in advance so Connie and Will can give your project the dedicated time it deserves.
Booking is straightforward, and the consultation itself is free. You'll walk away with a clear direction, accurate product recommendations, quantity estimates, and the confidence that what you've chosen will work, before you spend a dollar.
